One in 68 children is affected by Autism.  It's important for these children to receive quality behavioral therapy, but it's very expensive and requires a lot of time - usually multiple hours every day.  Even when money isn't an issue, it can be very difficult to find a qualified therapist.

This makes it challenging for families to provide the best treatment for their child.

The Emmersiv Team developed a software prototype built for Microsoft's Kinect for Windows platform to provide social skills therapy for children on the Autism spectrum.  This will provide greater access to quality therapy lessons at home - whenever it's convenient - all through a virtual environment that is engaging and interactive.

In addition to our Kinect prototype, we also began development on a mobile-based therapy solution.  This mobile product included an engaging story, memorable characters, and fun gameplay-focused levels that acted as a reward to children for successfully completing therapy sessions.  Due to funding issues and changes within West Health, this prototype was halted.

I helped create sample levels that highlighted various key gameplay mechanics.  These levels were repeatedly playtested with coworkers and children to gauge interest levels, user-friendliness, and to improve the overall design and feel of the game.
